HE FORMED US, LOVES US AND WILL NOT FORGET US!

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you!  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. —Isaiah 49:15-16

Your hands made me and formed me. —Psalm 119:73

            Listen, “Your hands made me and formed me.”  You are God’s creation and He does not make any mistakes.  We live in a fallen, sinful and corrupt world and that is why “bad things” happen.  Our bodies are affected by sin as well as all of creation.  That is why we have all this and so much more—

“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” —Romans 1:28-32

            God did not start the human race like this.  It was man’s desire to live apart from God and His Word that has brought us to where we are.  So let us not blame God.  We ourselves are to blame!  “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:4-5).

            “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”  How much does He love us?  “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe…. Then he said to Thomas, ‘“Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’”  Yes, we are known by Him even into the palms of His hands where Jesus “is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:2).

            Yes, you are known and loved by Him.  “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”  How unlikely a mother will forget her nursing child and have no compassion on that child.  But even if she did, our Lord said there is no way at all that He will forget us.
