THE EXPECTATION THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS GIVES!
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. —Luke 1:38
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” —John 19:30
The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Revelation 16:17
Merry Christmas this December 25th of 2024! Two thousand years ago Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to the Messiah, Jesus. He being the One who would save people from their sin. That is why the Eternal Son of God came to this world— “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). And Mary said, “May your word to me be fulfilled” and it was— Jesus was born. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCkdYH24bOY
Jesus said from early on in His ministry that “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life” (John 3:14-15). John the Baptist said of Jesus, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Jesus was very specific what would happen to Him— “As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified” (Matthew 26:2). On the cross Jesus said, “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” (John 19:30). His atonement for sin was done (I John 2:2). Then rose from the dead (Romans 1:40). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJINeR9_PXo
Jesus’ foretold birth came to pass. Jesus’ foretold substitutionary atoning death also came to pass. And so you can count on some point in the future the words, “It is done” will also come to pass. And—
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, a for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.” And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.” —Revelation 21:1-7
Yes, all God has told us in His Word has been fulfilled, is being fulfilled and will be fulfilled. Thank You, Dear Father, that we can count completely on Your Word. May I faithfully live for You until the work You have given me is done. Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus, my Lord. And may it be for all Your honor and glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VzprYCxPBQ
