THE FINAL ENEMY TO BE DESTROYED— DEATH!

THE FINAL ENEMY TO BE DESTROYED—- DEATH!

Then Joseph fell on his father’s face and wept over him and kissed him. —Genesis 50:1

So Joseph died, being 110 years old. They embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. —Genesis 50:26

This chapter opens with the death of Jacob and closes with the death of Joseph.  Death is a judgment from God that occurred when Adam and Eve sinned.  Sin and death came into the human race at the same time.  They were told by our Lord God— “but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:17).  So, “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it” (Genesis 3:6).  “So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man” (I Corinthians 15:21).  Death is an enemy, a judgment for the consequence of sin.  Yet Jesus tasted “death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9), “the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God” (I Peter 3:9).  Jesus took the judgment of death for us, that we could be saved (Romans 6:23; 10:13).

So, the human race started off with the judgment of death pronounced against it and that enemy, “The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (I Corinthians 15:26).  Then “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”  From the sin of Adam and Eve when death entered, until the time when death will be no more, death has caused so many tears, so much mourning, endless crying and pain.  But that will end in the future and will never again be known.  Oh, let us rejoice with such a glorious future ahead!

Where did life come from?  We know the answer.  It is very clear in Genesis chapter one.  Where did death come from?  Again, this is very clear from Genesis chapters two and three.  The world does not have the answers to these questions and end up with theories that are far-fetched.  But we, fellow followers of Jesus, have the clear answer to give and may we be doing so!  Yes, Dear Father, may we do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRSGXKsv7IU
