GOD’S WORD IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY! NOT MAN’S…
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. —Genesis 9:3
“Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image. And you, be fruitful and multiply, teem on the earth and multiply in it.” —Genesis 9:6-8
I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. —Genesis 9:11-16
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” —Matthew 4:4
“Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” —Matthew 4:10
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” —Matthew 4:19
The world system, headed up by Satan (Matthew 4:4), will seek to distract us from what God’s Word says. God’s Word is the final authority. It is the final authority of any person or living thing on this planet. No government or governmental leader has authority over the Word of God. What God says is of utmost importance and we had better listen to what He says. When we don’t, things go astray and are very destructive in many ways. Let’s look at a few.
There are those who do not want us to eat meat. This is actually a demonic teaching according to I Timothy 4:1-5— “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” Just as God gave “green plants” to eat in the beginning (Genesis 2:16). Beware of those who say you can’t eat meat but only vegetables. I will go by the authority of God’s Word.
God’s Word teaches that “sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” Not carrying out this command is another way the world puts a low view on man being created in God’s image. It devalues human life. People can murder and get away with it. Capital punishment needs to be adhered to, not joyfully, but with sadness. And everybody needs to be extended mercy and grace by hearing the gospel. Instead of being faithful to what God’s Word says we have lawlessness at all levels and life is becoming cheaper to our government and to our society in general. I will go by the authority of God’s Word.
God’s Word teaches that the world will not be flooded again. Climate change cultists tell us that the world is warming and will be flooded. They even say man-made climate change will cause the extinction of man. Well, God’s Word is clear. He will never flood the earth again and the testimony to that is the rainbow— God’s promise that we would never flood the earth. I will go by the authority of God’s Word.
As followers of Jesus, we need not be distracted from what God desires of us. We need to adhere to His Word, even when others do not agree— which generally will be the majority. We need to worship our Lord and Him only. Not some worldly fade, fake and false teaching. Mostly, we need to stick to the main mission of sharing the gospel and making disciples (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20). Yes, Dear Father, may we adhere to what Your Word says and be about the main mission Jesus gave us by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus.
