BY FAITH…

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. —Hebrews 11:6

And all these, though commended through their faith… —Hebrews 11:39

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith… —Hebrews 12:1-2

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” —Hebrews 13:5-6

By faith—

• We know the universe was created by the Word of God
• Abel offered a better sacrifice than Cain
• Enoch was taken up by God without dying
• Noah built the ark
• Abraham obeyed God and went to the land of promise
• Sarah received power to conceive
• Abraham offered up Isaac
• Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau
• Jacob blessed the sons of Joseph
• Joseph mentioned the future exodus & gave directions concerning his bones
• Moses was hidden for 3 months by his parents
• Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter
• Moses left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger
• Moses kept the Passover
• The people crossed the Red Sea
• The walls of Jericho fell down
• Rahab welcomed the spies and did not perish
• The judges were raised up by God
• The kings were raised up by God
• The prophets spoke for God

And all these… commended through their faith.”  Their witness should encourage us to “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.”  We should be looking to the eternal and not the temporal, always remembering our Lord said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  And also, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” 

            So, with all this in mind, what is God desiring to do through you by faith?  How will He write about you?  By faith, what are you doing that He desires you to do?  Are you doing what He desires you to do by faith?  We have plenty of witnesses of how He worked by faith in and through their lives.  Let us live in such a way that He will finish this— By faith (and then He writes what you did by faith).  What will it be?
