BE FAITHFUL TO YOUR CALLING!
BE FAITHFUL TO YOUR CALLING!
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high. —Luke 24:45-49
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. —Acts 1:8
Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” —Acts 2:37-39
Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. —Psalm 119:155
Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word! —Psalm 119:169
Our Lord God Almighty has to “open” people’s minds so they can understand God’s Word. People cannot understand who Jesus is unless “God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” God has to give a person understanding before they can truly know “that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”
God is drawing a people to Jesus (John 6:44). The message to them is “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” Our Lord God is calling a people to Himself and followers of Jesus are to work along with Him in this. We are to be Jesus’ witnesses through the power of His Holy Spirit. Are you being faithful to that which He has called you to? May it be so by the power of His Holy Spirit and in the authority of His Son Jesus. Yes, so may we be faithful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY
