LIVE LIKE JESUS THROUGH HIS POWER!
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. —Luke 6:33-36
Jesus said…
- “If you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. “
- “If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.”
Are we any different from the world in our attitudes and actions as followers of Jesus? Do you and I only do good to those who do good to us? If so, we are no different than the world which does the same thing. Or, do we only lend to those who we expect to get back what we lent to them? How different from the world is that? It’s not different!
No, instead Jesus told us to…
- “Love our enemies.”
- “Do good.” Paul adds… “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:10).
- “Lend, expecting nothing in return.”
What is the outcome?
- “Your reward will be great.”
- You will be known as “sons of the Most High.”
- We will be “is kind to the ungrateful and the evil” as He is.
- We will be “merciful” as He is.
To practice a life emulating our Lord is to be around those who do not know Him and to have a servant’s heart toward them as He does. “He is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.” Are we being like Him? How are we being like Him? What will we do today to be like Him? Oh, may we truly live like Him today toward those who do not know Him. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may we be like our Lord and Savior, our King and our God. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJgyQGl33kw
