God with us!
But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! —II Chronicles 6:18
The temple Solomon built for God was 90 feet long, 30 feet wide and 45 feet high and Solomon obviously realized that such a structure could not be big enough to contain Him. Solomon said, “The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!” Can a drinking cup contain the whole ocean? How could a temple contain the eternal Lord God Almighty?
And yet, and this is mind boggling, Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days… But the temple he had spoken of was his body” (John 2:19, 21). Jesus, fully God and fully man— “Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: ‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me’” (Hebrews 10:5). Jesus, the eternal Son of God— “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Truly—
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. —John 1:1-4
- For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. —John 5:18
- We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God. —John 10:33
- The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. —Colossians 1:15-17
- In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. —Hebrews 1:1-3
- Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know! —Proverbs 30:4

Dear Father, I surely cannot wrap my head around this truth. It is true, but I just cannot fully understand how it can be. I thank You for Jesus coming, for Who He Is and for all He has done for me. Now may I faithfully serve Him by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may this be so and all for Your honor and glory and the benefit of others.
