I CAN’T DIE TILL MY LORD SAYS, “IT IS TIME”

The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”  The Plot to Kill Paul. The next morning some Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. More than forty men were involved in this plot… But when the son of Paul’s sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.  Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.” So he took him to the commander.  The centurion said, “Paul, the prisoner, sent for me and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.” —Acts 23:11-13, 16-18

Then he called two of his centurions and ordered them, “Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at nine tonight. Provide horses for Paul so that he may be taken safely to Governor Felix.” —Acts 23:23-24

Lord, how many are my foes!  How many rise up against me!  Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.”  But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. —Psalm 3:1-3

I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side… From the Lord comes deliverance.  May your blessing be on your people. —Psalm 3:6,8

Paul cannot die, neither can you, unless the appointed time of our death by our Lord has arrived.  Truly, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16).  There was a plot to kill Paul, but that would not happen because our Lord had told Paul that “As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”  Now, whose plans do you think would be carried out— the plotting of man to kill Paul or the plan of our Lord for Paul to testify in Rome?  Well, we know the answer.

Our Lord puts people in the right place at the right time to further His plans.  And so, “the son of Paul’s sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.  Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.” So he took him to the commander.  Paul’s nephew heard about the plot to kill Paul and Paul asked a centurion to bring his nephew to the commander.  When the commander heard about the plot he sent Paul at night under the guard of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to Felix the Governor in Caesarea.

Regardless of how massive the opposition is— “I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side… From the Lord comes deliverance.  May your blessing be on your people.”  Truly, I can trust fully that “you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”  And death will not come to me until my Lord says it is time…  https://youtu.be/qTstBMkeAH8?t=49
