JOYFULLY PRAISING GOD!
I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” —II Samuel 24:24
He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. —Acts 4:8
You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. —Acts 4:15
Look what it cost God for our salvation! David would not offer to the Lord something that cost him nothing, but what David offered the Lord pales in comparison to when God offered up His only Son for our salvation. Think about this— Jesus is called “the author of life.”
Think about this— suppose a deadly plague spread to the whole human race. All people were going to die. Yet, one man comes up with a cure. He has the cure, promotes the cure and is killed because of the cure. How stupid that would be to kill the author of the cure. And yet, that is what the human race did. We killed the author of life who has the cure, but what was not understood is that He had to die so the cure could be available.
Now, you and I, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, we should be like the man at Beautiful Gate that Peter and John came into contact with and healed him in Jesus Name. The man “jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.” Picture the joy this man had after being healed. He was literally “jumping for joy!” Do you and I have that type of joy, understanding that we have been healed from Satan’s snakebit of sin to new life in Jesus? We should be!
So, what cost has there been for you in following or being a disciple of Jesus? What have you offered Him that has been a cost to you? Oh…
“I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” —Romans 12:1-2
Yes, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, may we offer our lives to Him for whatever He desires to do in and through us. Afterall, He is the author of life and we can fully trust Him with the life He has given us. May we do so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son, Jesus. So may it be and all for Your honor and glory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0nQl_EFZEs&list=RD_0nQl_EFZEs&start_radio=1
