YOU ARE SENT ON MISSION!
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior…. The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” —Judges 6:12, 14
One thing can be fully certain— when our Lord sends someone, He sends them with a purpose to be carried out. So it was with Gideon. Gideon did not see himself as a mighty warrior, but that is how our Lord saw him. How could Gideon be a mighty warrior? It was because our Lord was with Him!
Jesus said to His disciples that “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world” (John 17:18). He was not just talking about His disciples in His day because Jesus went on to say “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message” (John 17:20).
Now, as a sent one, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, you may feel like Gideon and have a view of yourself like he did. He did not see himself as our Lord saw him. Do you see yourself correctly? Jesus not only sent us, but also said He would be with us until the end of the age as He commanded to make disciples—
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20
We are “Go in the strength you have” and trust our Lord with working through us as He is with us. Our Lord has sent us to make disciples and surely, He will carry it out through us as we are faithful in the mission. You may have hesitation and doubts like Gideon did, but allow our Lord to encourage you and go forward with the mission He has sent us on with the power He has given us!— “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). Trust the power of His Holy Spirit to accomplish what He desires to accomplish through you. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO-UkeNNxaQ&list=RDlO-UkeNNxaQ&start_radio=1
