THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples. —Luke 14:33
In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. —Proverbs 12:28
Are you still grasping the forbidden fruit— the desire to go your own way, do your own thing and not come to God His way? Are you seeking to be the captain of your own ship/life, the determiner of your destiny? Are you really hanging onto that which is so temporary and yet you think that is what life is all about?
Well, Jesus said, “those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” A person needs to release all they think is important in this life to be able to understand “In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.” Simply put— “God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (II Corinthians 5:21). The way of righteousness is the way of Jesus. How amazing that “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (I John 4:10) “and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:2). Yes, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us” (I John 3:16). Truly, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Now, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
Brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, rejoice in that our Father drew us to Jesus, we heard the gospel and called on His Name.
