LOVINGLY DO WHAT GOD SAY AND DESIRES!
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. —James 1:21-25
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. —James 2:17-18
You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. —James 2:24
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. —James 2:16
Those who say they have faith, that they have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, will not just listen to God’s Word, but will do what it says. Because they are being faithful to what God says then “they will be blessed in what they do.” Faithfulness leads to action and not just talking about the action to be done.
Stories and testimonies are shared because of faithfulness in a person’s life that honors God and a person wants to share how He is working in and through their lives. This is not done to puff up a person, but to lift up the Name of Jesus. We want to know Him and to make Him know through the way we act and live. This encourages others as well— “Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath” (I Thessalonians 1:8-10). And as we are faithfully living for Him then “This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands” (I John 5:2-3).
So you see, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, it is not just hearing or listening to God’s Word that is impactful, it is impactful by doing what God says! And may we do so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE_PNUNmw9c&list=RDrE_PNUNmw9c&start_radio=1
