JESUS— OUR KING AND JUDGE
You, Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation. —Lamentations 5:19
Rulers come and rulers go. They reign for a short time and then they are no more. Oh, how temporary are the prestigious positions of power. Those who have been in offices of leadership may be remembered more than those who are not, but their end is the same in this life as anyone else. Yes, “death is the great equalizer” as someone has said. Not only that, but regardless of the station in life, all will stand before Judge Jesus and “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25). The Judgment of Jesus will be that those who have not called on Jesus to live for Him “will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matthew 25:46). Yes, all generations that have lived, that are living and that will live will appear before Him. None will be excluded— no kings, presidents, prime ministers or any other leader as well as those who have not been in leadership. All will appear before King Jesus—
“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” —Revelations 20:11-15
Yes, those that are in leadership in this world are only there for a short time. Jesus is King forever! All generations will give account to Him. “Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire” where “the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).
