I LOVE YOU!

I LOVE YOU!

Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.  If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned. —Song of Solomon 8:7

What is more valuable than love?  Nothing can be given that would reach the importance of love in a relationship.  Material wealth does not come close to the jewel of love in a relationship.  The greatest love relationship is that for God— “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:37).  It is easier to love God because He loves us at all times, though we do fail in our love for Him at all times— unfortunately.  Then we are told to love people— “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matthew 22:39). This is more difficult in this fallen world of sinfulness.  Conflict in relationships many times extinguish love.

Marriages dissolve and end because of the harden hearts that were once so soften by love— Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning” (Matthew 19:8).  How said when those loving, soft hearts toward each other in marriage become hard and calloused.  There are so many sad stories of a spouse just walking away from the one they once loved and the children that came out of that loving relationship.  This is heart-breaking…

Oh, that we would utterly scorn anything that would break up a love relationship— whether it is a marriage relationship, a family relationship, a friend relationship… Why is it, at times, that it seems so easy to just walk away from what used to be a loving relationship?  Jesus said it— “because your hearts were hard” and it is sin that does that!

Dear Father, I want to thank You that I can depend on Your loving relationship to never end, even though I fail so often.  I desire not to fail You at all, but I know I do.  For that my heart does break.  I look forward to heaven where I will never fail you again.  Until then, may I seek to be faithful in our relationship and in other relationships as well.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSAN5ObaRQg&list=RDvSAN5ObaRQg&start_radio=1
