TEST THE WORDS SPOKEN!

TEST THE WORDS SPOKEN!

Does not the ear test words as the tongue tastes food? —Job 12:11

The healthy tongue discerns such a wide variety of tastes—sweet and sour, bitter and pleasant, salty and bland.  Blindfolded, the healthy tongue can identify (as I have read… and experienced) —

  1. Sweet: Sweet is a pleasurable taste that indicates the presence of sugar.
  2. Salt: The salt receptor is the most basic taste receptor in the mouth.
  3. Sour: Your tongue can detect the sour acidity of citrus fruits, such as lemons and oranges.
  4. Bitter: This is the most delicate of the five flavors.
  5. Umami: This flavor is sometimes described as savory or meaty.

You can blindfold a person and feed them a wide variety of foods and drinks and they will be able to tell you exactly what it is they are tasting.  Yes, the taste buds are very discerning and the ears should be like that with the words we hear.  Our taste buds can pass the test and identify the truth of a food, but can our ears taste and test, then identify the truth of words being spoken?  It would be so much easier to identify the truth if words could be tasted like food.

But the sound of words is inanimate and the hearing of them lasts for a moment.  It takes experiencing a host of foods to be able to identify them.  If we have not had a food before, we would not be able to identify it.  The taste of it is connected with the name of it— what it is.  So, with words we hear… they are connected to something and we need to test the “something” they are connected with to see if the words are accurate.

For instance— transgender— “Transgender is a general term that describes people whose gender identity, or their internal sense of being male, female, or something else, does not match the sex they were assigned at birth.”  Now, is transgenderism real or made up?  How do you check this?  Well, as a follower of Jesus, this is easy.  God created male and female.  That’s it.  Now, look at the definition of transgenderism.  They are identifying as something they were not at birth.  Identifying— it is not what they are, but a choice they have made.  It is not a physical reality but a mental delusion.  It is dishonest and a lie.  It is not from God but from Satan and those caught in this lie need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).

Our words, our communication needs to be tested by God’s Word and what He says.  Consider this—

“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” —I Corinthians 6:9-11

See, God says that you were once this way, going your own way, but you were changed when you came to Jesus.  You are not what you used to be.  That is what God says and I will trust His Word over man’s word.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Your ways are the best ways and may I follow Your ways and encourage others to do the same.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cKm_mYVPQE
