COMING IN GREAT POWER TO JUDGE!
The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. —Nahum 1:3
The human race ought to be thankful that our Lord is “slow to anger.” Look at all He puts up with in the human race— “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me” (Matthew 17:17). Indeed, even though He is slow to anger, how much longer will He put up with us?
He is “great in power.” For sure, He is all powerful. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). Look around the earth… look at the universe… if you cannot see His power and divine nature in the design all around you, then you are spiritually blind.
But know this— “the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished” and “he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:31). “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Your “church” affiliation will not save you. Your denomination will not save you. Your good works will not save you. Thinking you are a good person will not save you. As a matter fact we are told that “No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them— the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough— so that they should live on forever and not see decay” (Psalm 49:7-9). No, only “God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself” (Psalm 49:15). And…
“You know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God”. —I Peter 1:18-21 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=5s
All have sinned (Romans 3:23). All are guilty before God and Jesus is “the way and the truth and the life” and “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Are you saved from the wrath/judgment to come? It is only by having a relationship with Jesus that you will be saved. Otherwise, He will say to you, no matter how religious you may be, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! (Matthew 7:23). So be like the wise man of Matthew 7:24-27— hear and apply God’s Word to your life. Be not like the foolish man who also heard God’s Word, but he did not apply it to life— the end is eternal destruction. Call on Him now if you have yet to do so. Yes, Dear Father, may any who have never called on Jesus are reading this, may they call on Him by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1BMJXt6QC8
