I AM FREE!
I AM FREE!
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. —Isaiah 61:1-2
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” —Luke 4:18-19
Jesus came to—
- Proclaim good news to the poor
- Bind up the brokenhearted
- Proclaim freedom for the captives
- Proclaim release from darkness for the prisoners
- Proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Yes, there is good news for the poor for which we all are and “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Oh, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:17). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYZw0dfLmLk
Jesus has also come to help and heal those with emotional heartache. This fallen sinful world has plenty of that for various reasons in individuals’ lives. But Jesus came for those “who need a doctor” (Matthew 9:12) and we all do! But not all will acknowledge this and accept His help— sadly.
Jesus also came to set free those who need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26). Oh, “that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth” (II Timothy 2:25).
Jesus desires that people experience that “the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:12-14). Yes, He wants people to be released from darkness to His light!
Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32). His desire is that we truly experience the freedom that He has brought. Are you?
Dear Father, I thank You for the freedom You have given me in Jesus. Now, may I live out that freedom by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsbFFPWnBIs
