GOD IS THE JUDGE

The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.  Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” —Psalm 58:10-11

            There are injustices in the world, but as followers of Jesus, we are not to avenge ourselves. “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).  Nothing escapes His notice.  “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).

            As followers of Jesus, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (II Corinthians 5:10).  “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25).  Of course, the answer is— “Yes, the Judge of all the earth will do what is right.”  We can fully trust Him for that.
