SET ON THE ROCK— JESUS!
SET ON THE ROCK— JESUS!
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. —Psalm 40:1-3
When did you cry out to the Lord and He heard you and responded? Have you cried out to the Lord? If not, why not? Anyone who cries out to Him will receive His response. He says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Oh, what a joy to know that He “lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”
What was my life lie before He lifted me out of the slimy pit? This is where I was—
“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.” —Ephesians 2:1-3
Yes, that is how I was living—
- I was dead (spiritually) in my transgressions and sins (and so is everyone who had not called on Jesus to save them from their sins—John 3:18, 36)
- I was following “the ways of this world” (those of the world are enemies of God— Romans 5:10)
- I was following “the ruler of the kingdom of the air” (that is the “god of this world— Satan— II Corinthians 4:4; II Timothy 2:26)
- I was following the satanic spirit that “is now at work in those who are disobedient” (Ephesians 2:2)
- I was “among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.” (Ephesians 5:6; Colossians 3:6)
That is where I was until I called on Jesus and then “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” I “drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ” (I Corinthians 10:4). Yes, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vORSaiLVQOc Thank You, Dear Father, for setting me on the SOLID ROCK, Your Son Jesus. Now may I live faithfully for Him the rest of my life by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. Yes, so may it be!
