LIVE FOR JESUS!

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. —Romans 7:18-25

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. —Romans 8:1-9

The Law could never make one perfect or righteous.  The Law shone the light on who people really are— sinful and in need of a Savior.  The Law always looked forward to the coming of Jesus.  It is only through Jesus that we fulfill the Law and are made perfect, righteous.

We could never truly live according to the Law as well.  It was a constant reminder of sins (Hebrews 10:3).  The work to eradicate sin was never finished under the Law.  But when Jesus came— By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear” (Hebrews 8:13).  Now “by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Hebrews 10:14).  We are made perfect through Jesus and He is presently making us “holy” as we “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:1-2).

So, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, let us yield to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and do His will.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son, Jesus.  So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqWYSyDZYIg
