Esther had not made known her people or kindred, for Mordecai had commanded her not to make it known. —Esther 2:10

Esther had not made known her kindred or her people, as Mordecai had commanded her, for Esther obeyed Mordecai just as when she was brought up by him. —Esther 2:20

But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus. —Esther 3:6

Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with instruction to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all Jews, young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods. —Esther 3:13

We must understand that the spiritual warfare that we are involved in has been going on ever since Satan said to Eve— “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:4-5).  Satan hates people since they are created after God’s likeness (Genesis 1:26-27) and he will seek to destroy them any way he can.  He especially hates the line from which the Messiah would come (Genesis 3:15) and that can be seen through the ages.  That hatred Satan has for the Jewish nation, which Jesus came through, is on-going today and will continue to the end of this age.

Anti Semitism is not new.  It has been going on for thousands of years.  In the time of Esther, Haman was enraged at Mordecai for not bowing down to him.  Haman “scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead, Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of Xerxes (Esther 3:5-6).  This wicked Haman, offended by one Jewish person, sought to destroy all the Jewish people through the kingdom of Xerxes.  We are seeing that same attitude today.

Today, what happens in Israel that is despised quickly spreads to hatred against Jewish people in other parts of the world.  Not only would Satan desire to stamp out the Jewish nation, but he would love to annihilate all Jewish people everywhere.

But also, Satan would love to do the same to the followers of Jesus as well.  Since Jesus is from the Jewish line, humanly speaking, His followers are also in the crosshairs of Satan.  So, fellow followers of Jesus, brothers and sisters, let us be aware of what is happening around us.  As for Satan, we have “triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of (our) testimony” and let us “not love (our) lives so much as to shrink from death” (Revelation 12:11).   Let us live faithfully for Him all our lives!  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Precious Son Jesus.
