HE, UNABLE TO BE CONTAINED BY THE HEAVENS, TOOK ON A BODY!
HE, UNABLE TO BE CONTAIN BY THE HEAVENS, TOOK ON A BODY!
But will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built! —II Chronicles 2:6
Look up in the night sky. He has created it all, the whole universe which we can never grasp the enormity of it. Look around the earth. He has created it all and we get to see or understand some of it in our lifetime. He is so awesome and His works are a reflection of Who He is.
As we look at all He created, understand that all of creation cannot contain Who God is. He exists well beyond the created things and is every present in His Creation. This truly stretches the mind. Especially when Jesus, the Creator (Genesis 1; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2), came to earth in a body. How can you put the entire oceans in a glass? How can God dwell with man in a body when “heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!” So how can a body “contain” the Creator. But God did it. Jesus said—
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’ ” —Hebrews 10:5-7
The Eternal Son of God, which a building cannot contain, was sent by His Father in a body to be a sin offering for us. How awesome is this? We cannot wrap our head around this, but this is the fact—
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” —I Corinthians 15:3-8
Woe to those who do not call on Jesus to save them from their sin. All that God has done to make it possible for us to be forgiven of our sin, to be in relationship with Him through Jesus and be able to live forever with Him in glory— to reject this is such a serious choice and an affront to God. Rejection of the perfect Lamb of God will end in an eternity of regret and suffering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=30s Oh, may you call on the Name of Jesus to save you if you have not already. And then may we encourage others to do the same!
Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May this be so out of our gratitude for all You have done for us.
