OUR TREASURE FOCUSES OUR HEART

OUR TREASURE FOCUSES OUR HEART

The LORD has sought out a man after his own heart…  —I Samuel 13:14

Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.” —I Samuel 14:6

But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ —Luke 14:16-20

Our Lord seeks people that are passionate about what He is passionate about.  He looks for people whose hearts align with His heart.  It matters not how many or few there are, He is able to do great things with whoever desires to faithfully follow Him.

Unfortunately, there are many excuses why people do not align with His heart.  There are three given in this parable mentioned above.  They are—

  • Real estate
  • Business
  • Family

Real estate— People can get so caught up with material possessions that they take precedence over what our Lord desires.  Materialism keeps people from being passionate about what He is passionate about.

Business— So many people’s identity is tied to their work.  Work is good if there is a right perspective on it.  But when work distracts us or becomes the focus of our lives, then we will not be about the Lord’s business, but lasered in on our own.  Therefore, there is no passion for the Lord’s will to be done in their lives.

Family— There are many where family becomes the major focus.  It is all about the family.  Sure, family is our first ministry, but it is not our only ministry and family can and is used as an excuse to not be about our Lord’s will.

So, our Lord is looking for people that are after His own heart.  When He finds those, they will have a proper perspective on real estate, business and family.  Other areas of their lives will line up with His desires.  The key element though is the heart’s desire.  We are told “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21; Luke 12:34).  So, what or who do you treasure?  Where is your heart’s focus? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC617kE1maU

Dear Father, may I treasure my Lord Jesus above all.  Thank You, Holy Spirit, for all that You do for me.  Yes, Father, may I be ever grateful for Your Love and live faithfully and passionately after Your desires by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!
