LISTEN—- PRAY!
And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” —Mark 9:7
And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes. ”Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” —Mark 9:21-29
Our Father spoke from heaven to the disciples of Jesus and said, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” Are we listening to Him? Do we understand what is happening in our American nation?
Listen to what is said by the dad about his son and then what Jesus says to the demonic spirit and then about the demonic spirit. First, when Jesus asked how long this has been happening to the boy, the father said, “From childhood.” This demonic spirit tried to destroy this father’s son often by burning him or drowning him. Beware of the schemes of the devil and how he seeks to destroy people as the Apostle Paul said, “we are not unaware of his schemes” (II Corinthians 2:11).
Anything that is not for God is against God— it is anti-God and anti-Christ. Be aware. What are some schemes the devil is using today to destroy people?
- Abortion
- Attack on God’s design for the family
- Sex trafficking
- Sexual promiscuity
- Sexual deviancy of all kinds
- Drug trafficking
- Lawlessness
- Governmental corruption
- Educational corruption
- Health Care corruption
- Economic corruption
The devil is working through all these to destroy people. What is to be the answer as followers of Jesus in this fallen, corrupt and wicked world? We are to be people of prayer. Jesus said the demonic spirit could not be driven out except by prayer. Are we listening to what Jesus is saying? Our Father told us to listen to Him. Are we hearing what He is saying to us? Be prayerful people! Without Him we can do NOTHING! —John 15:5
