JESUS KNOWINGLY CAME TO DIE IN OUR PLACE, RISE FROM THE DEAD TO GIVE LIFE TO ALL WHO CALL ON HIM!
And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.” —Matthew 20:17-19
Jesus communicated on numerous occasions what would happen to Him. He was very specific about it, but the disciples did not fully grasp it (Matthew 16:21, 23; 17:22-23; Mark 8:33 9:31; 10:34; Luke 9:22; 18:31-34). This was the main reason that Jesus came into our world (Matthew 1:21). Without His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice on the cross, none of us could be saved (I John 2:2; John 14:1-6; Acts 4:12). He said that He would rise on the third day. That is pretty specific and His resurrection proved Him to be the Son of God (Romans 1:4).
Brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, we are safe and secure in our Lord. He has given all who call on Him the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23; 10:13). We will be with Him in glory in the not-too-distant future. What a joy that will be— to be with Him and all who love Him… forever in that perfect place! Until then, let us be faithful in running the race He has marked out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus— the Author and Finisher of our faith, who… For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2). All for us! Thank You, Dear Father, for all You have done for us through Jesus. Thank You Lord for being my substitute Lamb that I might live forever with You.
