GOD’S AMAZING MERCY AND GRACE!
GOD’S AMAZING MERCY AND GRACE!
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. —Ephesians 1:13-14
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. —Ephesians 2:1-2
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. —Ephesians 2:8-10
We who are following Jesus at one point came into contact with “the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him. We came to a point of belief either by hearing the Word of God (Romans 19:17) or reading the Word of God (John 20:31). When we believed we “were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Yes, being seal by God’s Holy Spirit is a guarantee of our inheritance!
Before we believed in Jesus we were— Ephesians 2:1-3
- Dead in trespasses and sins
- Dead as we walked
- Followed the course of this world
- Followed the prince of the power of the air
- Followed the spirit that is at work in the sons of disobedience
- Living among the sons of disobedience
- Gratifying the cravings of our flesh
- Following fleshly desires
- Following fleshly thoughts
- By nature deserving wrath
But because of His great love for us— Ephesians 2:4-
- He is rich in mercy
- He made us alive in Christ when we were dead
- He made us alive when we were dead in our transgressions
- He saved us by His grace
- He raised us up with Christ
- He seated us in the heavenly realms in Christ
- He will show us His incomparable riches of His grace in the coming ages
- He has expressed His kindness to us in Christ
- He has saved us by grace through faith
- He has done all this as a gift
- He has told us we cannot work for it
- He has shown us we have nothing to boast about when it comes to salvation
- He has made us His handiwork
- He has created us in Christ for good works
- He has prepared these good works in advance for us to do
Wow! How fortunate are we who called on Jesus to save us?! Dear Father, my desire is to live for You faithfully. Forgive me of my sin and failure. Oh, to be more like Jesus— that is my desire. May it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBRwoqJP2sk
