THE SHEPHERDS HEARD…THEY WENT… THEY SAW… THEY BELIEVED… AND THEY TOLD OTHERS WHAT THEY HEARD AND SAW!

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. —Luke 2:15-20

After the angels heard the message from the angel that the Savior had been born and how to find Him, they said, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”  They immediately wanted to go and “they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.”  Do we have desire and passion like the shepherd did?  They did not wait to act on the message they received.  No, their response to the message was immediate and with haste.

Because of their loving obedience, the shepherds “found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.”  The baby was lying in a manger just as the angels said.  “And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.”  The shepherds—

  • Heard the message of the Savior’s birth
  • Were told how to identify Him
  • Desired to see Him
  • Went with haste to find Him
  • Found Him just as they were told
  • Saw Him
  • Bore testimony about Him
  • Testimony was wondered at by all who heard them
  • Returned to their sheep
  • Praised God for what they had seen
  • Praised God for what they had heard
  • Glorified God for what they had seen
  • Glorified God for what they had heard
  • Confirmed the message was true by their obedience

Are we like the shepherds?  They were not told directly to go see and tell others, but they did.  We who have also “seen” the Savior are actually told by our Savior to go and tell others and make disciples that follow after Him.  Are we doing so?  Oh, Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Oh yes, may we be faithful as You guide us into Your desires.  So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY

*** Oh, may all of us that read this today share Jesus with at least one person today.  Father… may it be so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY
