THE CONSEQUENCE OF STUBBORNNESS

THE CONSEQUENCE OF STUBBORNNESS

But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels. —Psalm 81:11-12

God’s ways are best and when people do not want to listen to Him, do not want to submit to His desires, then it will not go well.  Why?  Because God will give “them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.”  Then we get the results, the fruit of our counsel.  What does that look like?  Let’s look at Romans 1:18-32 and see if this sounds like our culture…

  • They suppress the truth by their wickedness
  • They are without excuse for denying the God’s existence of God
  • They know God exists
  • They do not give Him thanks
  • They foolish and dark thinking
  • They claim to be wise but are fools
  • They are given over by God to sinful, sexual impurity, degrading their bodies
  • They exchange the truth of God for a lie
  • They serve created things rather than the Creator
  • They are given over by God to shameful lusts— homosexuality— women and men
  • They are given over to a depraved mind
  • They are filled with wickedness, evil, greed and depravity
  • They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.
  • They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful
  • They invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents
  • They have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy
  • They know God’s righteous decree that doing such things deserve death
  • They continue to do these very things
  • They also approve of those who practice them.

Rome’s culture 2000 years ago sounds much like our culture today, doesn’t it?  Just as Rome went, so will our culture if there is not a shift to God and His ways.  If we continue on, as a nation, with stubborn hearts then the end will come to this nation…  But, brother and sister, fellow followers of Jesus, we have the Good News of Jesus to proclaim to this fallen culture of ours and to the world.  Let us proclaim it!  Yes, Dear Father, may we proclaim Jesus to our culture and to the world by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM
