THE CALL TO LOVING OBEDIENCE AND FAITHFULNESS
THE CALL TO LOVING OBEDIENCE AND FAITHFULNESS
Some of them had charge of… Others of them were appointed over… II Chronicles 9:28
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). Salvation is all through grace. As someone has coined—G.R.A.C.E.— “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.” We do not do the work of God to be saved, but we do the work of God because we are saved!
The question is— “What is the work God has called you and I to?” What has He put us in charge of? What has He appointed us over? Do you know? Are you being lovingly and faithfully obedient in what He has for you? There are two basic “works” He has appointed us to— we are to be witnesses (Acts 1:8) and disciple-makers (Matthew 28:18-20). Are we being so?
Jesus said this about His disciples— “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” and “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you” (John 15:8, 16). So, what He has charged you with? What He has appointed you to? He expects us to be fruitful in what He has for us. This fruitfulness will be showing that we are His disciples.
Dear Father please help me to be faithful in Your charge to me, in Your appointment for me. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12a1eF5X-mA
