THIRST
THIRST
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” —Psalm 42:1-3
Do I long after God? Do you? Do you and I thirst after Him as a panting deer does for much needed water? Do we see our need for God like that? Or are other things more important? Do we truly have a desire to go and appear before God? Listen to what the Apostle Paul said about that— “I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith” (Philippians 1:23-25). Do we “desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” or are we hanging on to life in this world?
Paul went on to say that he knew he would “will remain, and… continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith.” Is that our attitude? As long as we are here on this planet it is for encouraging others in their progress and joy in the faith?” Are we looking out for others to stir them on in their walk with Jesus? May it be so!
We experience sadness, sorrow and tears on this planet with all that is happening in this world and also in our own lives. People may mock us when we depend on our Lord. They are like those who “deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water” (II Peter 3:5). The obvious is hidden from them, but we know the obvious and will trust Him, knowing one day we will be with Him and all who love Him forever! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyFNAs2jRjU
