PERSPECTIVE AND INTENTIONALITY

PERSPECTIVE AND INTENTIONALITY

But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.  For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked…  They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth…  But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end. Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin. How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors! —Psalm 73:2-3, 9, 16-19

You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.  But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. —Psalm 73:24-28

Be careful not to be envious of those living wicked lifestyles when they prosper.  Beware of that envy… “They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.”  It may appear that life is good for them.  We may wonder why it is that those who are so against the Lord prosper and communicate their arrogance without apparently being corrected by our Lord.  All this may not make sense to us until we consider things from God’s perspective.  It is only then will we have the right focus and discernment.  “Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin. How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors!”  We need to keep the eternal in focus and not just the temporal.  Those who speak against our Lord now, if they do not repent, only have this life to enjoy as they desire.  After that they will be eternally judged and separated from God forever in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15).  We have eternity with our Lord in glory!

Oh, but our Lord is our Guide and we receive counsel from Him.  Let us live, brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, with our focus on Him and the eternal.  We will one day be in glory with Him and all who love Him.  So yes, let us keep perspective in that we will be with Him in Heaven and may our attitude be “there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.”  Let us remember that “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.”  Let us remember this!

So, “for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.”  You and I, fellow follower of Jesus, need stay close to and abide in our Lord (John 15:1-17). He is our protection and we are to tell others of His wonderful works.  May we be doing so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIpnW3rtRQ4

Dear Father may I keep my focus on You and tell others about You.  May this be my life’s emphasis in whatever I am doing.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Oh yes, may this be so!
