Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. —Joshua 14:10-11

Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures… —Psalm 90:10

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. —Psalm 90:12

Amazing that Caleb was as strong at age 85 as he was at age 40.  That was the ability that God gave to him.  He was just as vigorous in his latter age as he was 45 years previously.  Yes, he was strong and we are told in Psalm 90:10 that “if our strength endures” we can live to be 80 years old.  There is something to be said for keeping up our strength if we want to live a longer life.  Of course, only our Lord knows the number of our days and when we will draw our last breath.  But “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”  Let us look at our lives, consider our age and ponder the time we may have left and may we wisely use that remaining time.

“I love you, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1).  “The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him” (Exodus 15:2).  I am so grateful to know that He is my strength and my protection.  The strength that He has given me will last right up to the time I have no more strength and breathe my last breath.  I can trust fully until then, through then and beyond then!  And then I will enter eternity with Him and all who love Him.  Oh, even so come, Lord Jesus.

Dear Father, I thank You for the strength You have given me to live.  May I wisely live for Your, being what You desire and doing what You desire.  Yes, this is truly my desire.  May it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, all for Your Honor and glory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp1h1f9gK-Y
