FRUITFULNESS THROUGH LOVING OBEDIENCE

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. —Zechariah 4:6 

 And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God. ——Zechariah 6:15

            What God says He will do, He will do.  He says to us— “If you love me, keep my commands… Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them…  Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. (John 14:15, 21, 23-24).

            The Spirit of God speaks to us through the Word of God to encourage us to be obedient to the Son of God to the glory of God our Father.  This loving obedience is not by some fleshly power we conjure up.  No, it is only by the power of God’s Holy Spirit that we can apply the Word of God to life, bearing fruit.  The question is: “Will we diligently obey the voice of the Lord Your God.”

            What is He saying to you?  Will you do what He says out of love for Him?  Even if it is something that does not make sense to you.  Will you do what He desires even if you don’t “feel” like it?  Whatever He desires He will bring it to pass as we lovingly obey Him.  That is the only way we can bear much fruit— “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.  As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love” (John 15:8-10).  Love for God results in obedience to Him and fruitfulness.  This is what brings glory to God.

            So… today… what is He desiring of you?  Will you listen and do what He desires?  Do this not in your own strength, but by His Spirit.  May this be so not only by His Spirit, but also in the authority of His Son Jesus.  May this be so that you bear fruit that remains!  Oh yes, may this be so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsQmsEE_2-s
