STIR OUR SPIRITS, OH LORD, TO FINISH YOUR WORK!

STIR OUR SPIRITS, OH LORD, TO FINISH YOUR WORK!

And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king. —Haggai 1:14-15

Oh, how we need our Lord God Almighty to have people that He has “stirred up the spirit of” to do His will.  Oh, may He stir up individuals and peoples to finish the work He has given us just He stirred the spirit up of Zerubbabel, Joshua and the remnant of the people to do the work our Lord desired them to do at that time.

This Christmas, I woke up in the night thinking… “How amazingly astounding that the Creator of all became one of the created with us for a while that we the created could be with the Creator forever.”  Wow!  He has done all the work for us to be with Him forever… He came, He modeled life among us, He died a preplanned sin offering death for us— taking our sin upon Himself through wretched crucifixion because of His love for us, He rose up from the dead, He appeared for 40 days to His followers, He ascended back to heaven as His followers watched, He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell those who call on His Name, He is coming back bodily just as He left, He will take all those to be with Him who have called on His Name— https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUxI-ynsTnM&list=RDmUxI-ynsTnM&start_radio=1

Jesus told us that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).  How is our Lord stirring your heart to take part in what He is doing?  Jesus said that “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).  How is our Lord stirring you up to take part in this disciple-making along with Him as a lifestyle and for our whole remaining life?

Oh, may we be like Zerubbabel, Joshua and the remnant of the people of their time whose spirits were “stirred up” to be obedient to the will of our Lord.  Yes, may we be obedient to what he desires to do in our lives until the gospel of the kingdom goes out to the whole world and disciples are made of all nations.  Be pleased, oh Lord, to stir me/us powerfully to do Your will until we are finally home— https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-h4zWbd3C8 Yes, Dear Father, please stir me to do Your will.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son for Your honor and glory!
