LIVE THE TRUTH, BEWARE OF LIARS
But if any nation will not listen, then I will utterly pluck it up and destroy it, declares the LORD.” —Jeremiah 12:17
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. —I Timothy 4:1-5
Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. —I Timothy 4:7-9
A nation that will not listen to our Lord God Almighty is bound for destruction. This is what our Lord has said. Look at some of the things that will be happening in the “later times.”
- There will be a departing from the faith by some
- They depart because now they are devoted to deceitful spirits
- They are devoted to the teachings of demons
- They are listening to liars
- They are listening to those whose consciences are seared
- They are listening to those who forbid marriage
- They are listening to those requiring abstinence for certain food
- They are listening to irreverent myths
- They are listening to silly myths
These things surely are prevalent in our culture today here in America. Yet, for we who are followers of Jesus, we are not to have anything to do with these attitudes and actions. Instead, we are to listen, learn and act according to God’s perspective. We are to train ourselves for godliness because “godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” We are also to enjoy those things that God has given to us to enjoy and not abstain from them. Dear Father please help me to live according to Your desires and not the desires of those who would lead astray. Oh, that this would be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus. May it be so!
