OUR GOD REIGNS!

Our God Reigns!

 He makes nations great and destroys them; He enlarges nations, then disperses them.  He deprives the earth’s leaders of reason and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland.  They grope in the darkness without light; He makes them stagger like drunkards. —Job 12:23-25

             If nations are great it is because of our Lord God Almighty.  He is the only One that makes a nation great.  No man or group of men can make a nation great by themselves; it is the Lord that does it through them if indeed a nation is to be great.  Oh, that man would acknowledge His hand in this and not seek to receive glory for themselves as if they had made a nation great.  “Dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations” (Psalm 22:28).  If men do not understand this then they will seek to receive the glory that is due our Lord alone.

He not only brings nations into existence and into greatness, but He is also the One who destroys nations.  “From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands” (Acts 17:26).  He is the One who has decided when and where nations would exist.  It would be wise for man to understand this.  Otherwise they will have a skewed and arrogant viewpoint of themselves.  Their pride will make them think they have done this.  They have not!

He also “deprives the earth’s leaders of reason.”  When leaders and any person do not want to acknowledge our Lord God Almighty or live for Him, then they will be given over to dark and foolish minds that don’t think right.  They will decline into all kinds of perverted sexual desires and they will worship created things.  All through this they think they are wise, but God says they are fools.  They are not reasonable and they encourage others into this wrong thinking (Romans 1:18ff).  They grope in the darkness they have chosen and act like drunk men.

Wow… you think that describes our nation?  The mental instability of many leaders in the United States is alarming.  They darkness engulfing their decisions is so concerning.  They are intoxicated by pride and power.  Thinking they are wise, yet God says they are fools!  They need to “be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:25-26).

We need to be praying for our leaders to do the right things.  We need to pray for their salvation.  We need to pray they have righteous counselors.  We need to pray they would be stopped from making disastrous choice.  We need to pray they would escape the devil’s bondage.  There is much to pray for them about.  Let us also be wise in what is happening and keep our eyes focused on Jesus!

Dear Father may our leaders look to You.  Only You can make that come about just as You moved the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade.  Surely You can impact our leaders.  May You be pleased to do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqo-adRyM_k
