SPEAK FROM GOD’S COUNSEL… ACCORDING TO HIS WORD

As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same. By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed. —Job 4:8-9

…for I have not denied the words of the Holy One. —Job 6:10

God said of Job that “There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil” (Job 1:8).  He was a man who did not deny “the words of the Holy One.”  Instead Job sought to live according to the Word of God.  God gave the very testimony about Job Himself that he was blameless, upright, a man who fears God and a man that shuns evil.  Wow… this is a marvel that God would say this about a man.  What does He say about me… about you?  I ponder that from time to time.  What does God say about me?

Eliphaz was quick to imply this about Job— “those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same. By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.”  He believed Job was involved in some type of sin and that was why Job’s trouble came upon him.  But this could not be further than the truth.  This trouble had come upon him because Satan wanted to destroy him and have him curse God.  Though Job was not a perfect man, God said that hat he was a blameless man… he was an upright man… he was a man who feared God… he was a man who shunned evil.  So Eliphaz was absolutely wrong in his thinking and counsel.

We need to be wise and not make assumptions about why bad things happen to people.  We do not have all the information as to why something has or is happening to someone.  So let us tread lightly as we seek to help others going through difficulty.  Let us speak to them, minister to them as Jesus would and let us seek God’s Holy Spirit’s guidance as we seek to serve hurting people.  The last thing a person going through difficulty needs is a counselor, one giving advice or input that is not led by the Holy Spirit of God.  So let us seek God’s wisdom as we seek to help others.  Yes, let us do so… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsQmsEE_2-s

Dear Father may Your Holy Spirit guide me as I seek to encourage and comfort any who are going through difficulty.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  May this be so!
