ABUSE OF POWER
ABUSE OF POWER
But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him, “Why is your spirit so vexed that you eat no food?” And he said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’” And Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern Israel? Arise and eat bread and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.” So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and she sent the letters to the elders and the leaders who lived with Naboth in his city. And she wrote in the letters, “Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people. And set two worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king.’Then take him out and stone him to death.” —I Kings 21:5-10
But a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate… at evening he died. —I Kings 22:34-35
There are those who use their power of authority to lie, deceive, manipulate, and murder to get their own way. Just because they are in office they think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. But they do not get away with anything. Again, He “judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12-13). In the end our Lord will expose everything that men desire to hide in the darkness. Every deed is know by Him.
An innocent man was going about life. He had friends and family and was a responsible citizen. He had done nothing wrong, but the greed, callousness and wickedness of others came to him just because his vineyard was near the palace of the king. Naboth’s demise was his faithfulness to his family inheritance. Oh, so many times the wicked kill the righteous innocent to get their way, but God will not be mocked with their actions. In time he will right all wrongs… yes He will! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM
In this case when Ahab was in battle “a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate.” That random shot had justice written all over it as the Lord directed it with a 100% accuracy to bring judgment on Ahab. Be sure… God will direct His justice and judgment in His timing. But understand this… in due time it will come! Let us trust Him to carry out His purposes and be faithful to what He has called us to. Yes, Dear Father, regardless of all the evil that is happening in this world, I trust that You will bring it to a conclusion by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in authority of Your Son Jesus. May I live faithfully for You by His Name to be and do what You desire me to be and do.
