But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. —Luke 8:15
But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. —Matthew 13:23
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. —John 15:4-5
How will a crop come from a follower of Jesus? It is through a persevering relationship with Jesus. Those who follow Jesus hear what He has to say and then be and do what He desires. This is how a fruit crop will be produced through those who follow Jesus. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). So persevere in the race He has marked out for you— “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
So… are you persevering in that race marked out for you? Are you keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus? Are you hearing what He is saying to you? Do you understand what He is saying to you? Are you staying in fellowship with Him? Are you becoming weary in doing good? Do you feel like giving up?
Look at those who have gone before us and be encouraged— the witnesses of Hebrews chapter 11. Consider those faithful believers’ testimonies of recent history. Look to those today who are faithfully walking with our Lord. Spend time with those who are faithfully persevering in the race marked out for them and run with them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhk_5c6H-yc Don’t grow weary. Don’t give up. Keep following Jesus. Keep in fellowship with Jesus. Persevere in Jesus… and a harvest will come. So run… with others who are running!
May it be so Dear Father that I run faithfully by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
