ONLY GOOD SOIL PEOPLE ARE FRUITFUL
Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” —Mark 4:3-20

- Seed sown along the path. Jesus said these people 1-hear the Word 2-Satan comes 3-Satan takes away the Word that was sown in them. The seed has no impact in their lives.
- Seed sown on rocky places. Jesus said that these people 1-hear the Word 2-at once receive it with joy 3-have no root 4-last only a short time 4-trouble/persecution comes because of the Word 5-they quickly fall away. The seed has no lasting impact in their lives.
- Seed sown among thorns. Jesus said these people 1-hear the Word 2-worries of this life, deceitfulness of wealth, desires for other things come in and choke the Word 3-the Word is unfruitful and not impacting in their lives.
- Seed sown on good soil. Jesus said these people 1-hear the Word 2-accept it 3-produce a crop 4-the crop in their lives produce 4-production is different in those who accept the Word—- 30, 60 or 100 times what was sown.
Jesus made it clear that these are different groups of people that have different responses to the Word of God when they hear it. All heard the Word of God, but it was only the seed sown on the good soil people that was fruitful. The three other types of soil people did not have fruitfulness when the Word was sown in their lives.
