JESUS— NO OTHER GREATER NAME!
And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” —Mark 3:11
Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat. And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” —Mark 3:20-21
Isn’t it interesting how the demonic world knows who Jesus is without a doubt— “they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” We are told in James that “Even the demons believe that—and shudder” (James 2:19). Why do they shudder? It is because they know without a doubt that judgment is coming for them— “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” (Matthew 8:20). Demons clearly know who Jesus is and who His followers are— “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” (Acts 19:15). Yes, they undoubtedly know Jesus—
Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! But some of those in Jesus earthly family did not understand who He was, at least initially. Early in His ministry when He was in His hometown and crowds gathered— “when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” Wow, this is astounding! So if Jesus own earthly family did not understand who He was, don’t be surprised at those you seek to encourage to trust Jesus don’t understand Who He is as well. All we have to do is reflect on our lives to a time when we didn’t understand Who Jesus was. Our Father drew us to Jesus (John 6:44) and He is also drawing others as well.
