OBEDIENCE REGARDLESS OF THE FEELINGS OF BEING INADEQUATE!
OBEDIENCE REGARDLESS OF THE FEELINGS OF BEING INADEQUATE!
Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” he Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” —Exodus 4:10-13
But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?” —Exodus 6:12
But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?” —Exodus 6:30
Does this sound like anyone you know— making excuses as to why you cannot do what our Lord desires? Moses used the excuse that he was not a good speaker or a good communicator. God reminded him that it was He that made man’s mouth and that He would help Moses speak and teach him what to say. Moses was to depend on Him.
Moses again used the excuse that he was not a good speaker or a good communicator. If his own people would not listen to him, why would Pharaoh? Moses really did not want to go because he truly believed he was not a good speaker or that he would be listened to. His focus was too much upon himself and not the Lord and what He was saying.
When our Lord desires something to be done and He has commanded us to do it, what should be our response? We should obey regardless of how inadequate we may think we are. Instead of looking at ourselves we need to look to Him and trust Him to accomplish through us that which He has commanded us to do. We need to be lovingly obedient!
What is our Lord asking of you? Get the focus off yourself and be lovingly obedient to His desires. Get the focus off your inabilities/inadequacies and trust Him to accomplish through you that which He desires. Yeh, a huge part of this is trusting Him and getting the focus off ourselves and our wrong thinking. Dear Father may I obey You even when I feel weak and unable. It is then I need to trust what You are doing and be faithful to what You desire of me. May I do this by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8
