IN THE LATER TIMES…
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. —I Timothy 4:1-5
In later times we see that certain things will happen—
- Some will depart from the faith
- Those departing the faith will devote themselves to deceitful spirits
- Those departing the faith will devote themselves to the teaching of demons
- Those departing the faith will be led astray by the insincerity of liars
- Those insincere liars have consciences that are seared
- Those insincere liars forbid marriage
- Those insincere liars require abstinence from certain foods
Our foundation for Truth is God’s Word. Beware of those who would lead others astray from that safeguard. What is mentioned above goes right back to the spiritual battle in the Garden of Eden. Satan wanted Adam and Eve to depart from their faith in God. Adam and Eve ended up devoting themselves to deceitful Satan’s communication. They devoted themselves to Satan’s teaching. They were led astray this insincere lying serpent. Satan has no conscience. Satan sought to impact marriage (Adam blamed Eve) and, in this case, Satan twisted God’s command on the food of one tree to get his way.
So let us be aware of Satan’s schemes and let us be watchful as to the times we are living in. We are in spiritual warfare and Satan will use any avenue he can to lead others astray. “Be alert and of sober mind. Dear Father I thank You for the Light of Your Word that You have given us to navigate through this dark world. May I be faithful to what You have to say and also to share with others what You have to say. May this be done by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
