SERVING GOD NOT PEOPLE AS FIRST PRIORITY

SERVING GOD NOT PEOPLE AS FIRST PRIORITY

On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. —I Thessalonians 2:4

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. —Galatians 1:10

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.  —I John

Who are we seeking to please as top priority?  Hopefully we are not being a people pleaser as our first priority.  Instead may it be our goal to please God above all else.  He is the One who tests our hearts.  He is the One who knows all about us.

The Apostle Paul said that “If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”  To be a servant of Christ is to place Him first in our lives.  We are not trying to win the approval of any person, but instead we are seeking to please God who has entrusted us with the gospel.

So how are you and I doing in this area?  As we look at our lives are we seeking as first priority to please God or to please people?  If we are seeking to please God then we are seeking to serve Him as our top priority.  If we are seeking to please man as our top priority then we are not truly serving Jesus.  To serve Him is to keep His Word and “do what pleases Him” as foremost in our lives.  May we do so!

Dear Father may I seek to serve You as my top priority.  Oh, that I would not fall into the trap of seeking to please people first.  My desire is to do those things that are pleasing in Your sight.  This is what is most important.  May I do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9O1GPUqn8M&list=RDm9O1GPUqn8M&start_radio=1
