FAITH— ASSURANCE OF WHAT WE HOPE FOR AND CERTAINTY OF WHAT WE DO NOT SEE!

FAITH— ASSURANCE OF WHAT WE HOPE FOR AND CERTAINTY OF WHAT WE DO NOT SEE!

And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have {assurance of what (you) hope for and the certainty of what (you) do not see—Hebrews 11:1} and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have {assurance of what (you) hope for and the certainty of what (you) do not see—Hebrews 11:1}.” —Matthew 21:21-22

Wow! I love to insert the definition for faith from Hebrews 11:1 when it is mentioned in God’s Word. It gives me a better perspective of what is being said. Even when going through Hebrews chapter 11 and inserting the definition for faith (assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see) every time faith is mentioned helps me to think about things easier. Try it… faith is far from being blind. When people talk about “blind faith” they are speaking something that is not biblical.

According to the passage stated above, doubt short circuits faith. If I doubt then how can I be assured? If I doubt then how can I be certain? Faith is being assured and certain. Hmmm… where am I lacking faith and why? Do I not trust what He says in His Word? Do I not trust what He has put on my heart? Do I not trust Him to guide me as He has promised? Do I not trust Him for the purpose(s) He has for me in “such a time as this?”

Oh Lord, “increase my faith” is what I want to shout, but then You said to your disciples— ““If you have {assurance of what (you) hope for and the certainty of what (you) do not see—Hebrews 11:1}.” as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.  So Lord, may I just trust You to do what You desire to do in my life and through my life. Whatever You say in Your Word may I trust. Whatever You put on my heart to do and be may I also trust You to accomplish it. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and by the authority of Your Son Jesus. So be it to honor and being glory to Your Name! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOSnsIwmukQ
