SEEK GODLY COUNSEL & BEWARE OF UNGODLY COUNSEL!

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?” —Job 38:1-2

Job had said things that were utterly wrong. He spoke as if he had the answers and yet his words, and surely his “friends” words, were darkened counsel spoken without knowledge. Oh how much of this darkened “counsel by words without knowledge” happens today!   People from all strata of life— social, economic, racial, ethnic, political… think they have the answers as they purely give their own “counsel by words without knowledge.” They think they are intelligent, they claim to be intelligent, they portray themselves as having the answers and yet without the counsel of the Lord “they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts” (Romans 1:21).

Are you wondering what is happening in our country, in our world— Why does it seem like it is lost its mind? It is because it has. It is only a slippery slope down into the depths of immorality without His counsel.   As brilliant as people think they may be they are moving toward the depths of darkness without the counsel of our Lord God Almighty (Romans 1:18-32).

Job, a believer, was darkening the Lord’s counsel by his “words without knowledge.” Now God had said of Job that “there is no one on earth like him, a man who is blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil.”  God said this twice of Job (Job 1:8; 2:3) and yet Job struggled in his thinking about why all this was happening to him and spoke wrongly. God confronted Job’s speaking “words without knowledge.”

You and I are better not to say anything rather than try to figure out some things that are happening that we just plain and simply do not have the knowledge to understand. And we are not able to understand unless our Lord God Almighty reveals His understanding to us. And we also better be careful to take the counsel, our own or others, when we or they do not have the knowledge to understand what they are talking about.   Yeh, beware who you take counsel from.

The last place I will put my trust in are most “so called” journalists who are supposed to be reporting to people the truth of what is happening in our world.   Most of them have just become political mouthpieces spouting their parties’ line—biased communicators. I wouldn’t trust them anymore than trusting a rotted piece of rope to lift a heavy weight. So let us not speak about something we do not have knowledge about as if we do. And let us be skeptical about others who say they have knowledge about something when they really don’t. WE MUST TEST WHAT PEOPLE SAY AND NOT JUST TAKE IT AT FACE VALUE!

Dear Father You are the only One I can trust 100% of the time. Thank You for giving us Your Word so we can navigate by Your Light/Truth in this dark world. I am so grateful and may I navigate faithfully by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. —Psalm 143:10  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI_1YliutzA
