OH, HOW HE LOVES US!

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! —Psalm 36:7

            God’s love for us can be counted on at all times. He does not give up on us and stop loving us. Now don’t take for a moment that God does not discipline His children because He does. Just take a look at, among other places, I Corinthians 11:23-34 where some followers of Jesus were sick and others died because of their disobedience. Love does not mean lack of discipline. Love includes discipline. Only a permissive parent will not set boundaries or keep them.   God is not like that. He knows what is best for us. He has set the boundaries and He will lovingly guide us to stay within them. But if we go outside His boundaries without repentance then His loving discipline could come upon us. But His love toward us never fails! Rejoice!

Dear Father I am overwhelmed by Your steadfast love.   How You can love me when I am so unlovable at times is beyond me… it really is. How you can love someone who fails so often, someone who is so feeble and frail and I am sure I am grievous to You at times? BUT… as utterly unbelievable from the human standpoint this is, I am so grateful that You do love me like this! Now may I seek to love like You do.
