OUR AWESOME GOD!

OUR AWESOME GOD!

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” —Hebrews 12:28-29

Are we thankful to God and worshipping Him “acceptably with reverence and awe?” Consider who He is— “God is a consuming fire.” Let us consider what is said in 2 Peter 3:10-13.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

God is not to be taken lightly. Those who do are in dire danger. A day is coming when He will set all things right. We who know Him “are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.” The kingdoms and nations of earth can and will be shaken and dissolved, but not the kingdom that we are part of. Our King and His kingdom can never be shaken or dissolved. It is an eternal kingdom. This is absolutely certain. This is a certainty that never can be known on earth. All nations on earth have an end, but not His! This is the King we serve. This is the kingdom we are in.

So knowing these things should encourage us “to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” Are you “looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells?” That is where we are headed! That is where our race will end (Hebrews 12:1-2). Are we living holy and pure lives? We will give account to Him one day (II Corinthians 5:10). So let us be faithful until we see Jesus. Yes, let us be a thankful and worshipful people! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smZwG-auxC8

Dear Father may I truly be thankful to You for all You are and for all You do. You deserve all our worship for You alone are worthy. May I live a thankful and holy life in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
