THE GOSPEL
THE GOSPEL
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. —I Corinthians 15:1-8
Here is the bedrock of our faith. This is what Paul preached and this is what we are to preach as well! Just like the Corinthians— 1- we received the gospel 2- we take our stand on the gospel 3- we are saved by the gospel (Romans 1:16) 4-we hold firm to the gospel.
Now, if we do not hold to the gospel that was preached by Paul then we have believed in vain. How many people have we known that “seemed” to believe and then they disappear? True faith is described as a continuance, a holding firmly to what we believed. Vain belief is not a continuance, not holding firmly to what we “believed.”
The gospel: is to be passed on. All believers are called to be witness and disciplers (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20). 2- Is of first importance— This is where new life begins for all who believe (Romans 10:13; II Corinthians 5:17). 3- Jesus died for our sins according to God’s Word (Isaiah 53). 4- Jesus was buried (Matthews 27:57-61). 5- Jesus rose from the dead. In doing so He was declared to be the Son of God (Romans 1:4). 6- Jesus was seen after He rose from the dead by— A- Peter B- the Twelve C- 500 believers at the same time D- James E- all the apostles F- Paul.
So are you continuing? Are you standing firm in the gospel? (Ephesians 6:10-17). Then you are saved and are to be passing on this gospel— all our of love for God and people (Matthew 22:37-40). How are we doing in obeying that? https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=god%27s+answer+for+man+-+the+lamb
Dear Father help me to be obedient in sharing the good news with those I come into contact with. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yBzIt_z8oY
